Each June, the International Festival of Arts & Ideas comes to New Haven to celebrate artists and thinkers from around the world. And this year John and Maggie are taking part in the festivities!
The festival, in association with the Yale Summer Film Institute, will be hosting screenings of four films that foreground stories in the African American communities across the United States; BROTHER FROM ANOTHER PLANET, CITY OF HOPE, SUNSHINE STATE, and GO FOR SISTERS. In addition, John and Maggie will be discussing their careers and the current state of independent film in a public conversation on Saturday at 3pm. And the best thing about it is it is all FREE!!!
Full schedule for screenings and discussions are below. All will take place at the Whitney Humanities Center (53 Wall Street). More info on the festival can be found here. And check out John’s related interview in the New Haven Independent.
