Next month, Brooklyn’s BAMcinématek will present a retrospective of Joe Dante’s film and television work.
As many of you know, Joe and John’s friendship dates back to when they both worked for Roger Corman. They’ve collaborated through the years: John wrote the screenplays for “Piranha” and “The Howling” and played a part in “Matinee.” All three films will screen as part of the retrospective:
Matinee on Saturday August 6 and Sunday August 21
Piranha August 9 through August 20
The Howling on Saturday August 13 and Saturday August 20
Other titles include “Gremlins 1 & 2”, “Small Soldiers” (a favorite at the John Sayles blog), “The Burbs”, “The Explorers”, “Homecoming”, “The Hole”, and “Burying The Ex”. Joe also hand-picked some of his favorite films to play as double-features.
