Last Friday, John Sayles joined actors, producers and directors alike to celebrate the life and work of Jonathan Demme.
Demme was most known for his work in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, RACHEL GETTING MARRIED, PHILADELPHIA, and ADAPTATION. He won an Oscar in 1992 for Best Director for “Silence of the Lambs,” and was nominated for a Golden Globe that same year.
The DGA Theater in New York hosted a tribute to Demme on Dec. 8, including a panel that was composed of Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster, independent film director John Sayles, producer Ron Bozman, screenwriter and film director Kelly Reichardt, production designer/costume designer/producer Kristi Zea, and screenwriter Jenny Lumet. Independent film director Raymond De Felitta moderated the event.
John Sayles was a friend and colleague of Demme. John had a walk-on role in Demme’s 1986 film SOMETHING WILD.
Jonathan Demme passed away on April 26th, 2017.
