Amigo for Bohol : How To Help

Members of the AMIGO cast and crew

You will remember that last month a massive 7.2 earthquake hit the Bohol Province of the Philippines, where AMIGO was filmed.  Many of the cast and crew members of AMIGO were affected by this catastrophic event.  The Amigo Para Sa Bohol (“Amigo for Bohol”) effort was created to use benefit screenings of the film to collect monetary and physical donations for victims of the national disaster.

Screenings have been scheduled for:

Friday, November 15th

5:00pm + 7:30pm

UP Cine Adarna: Magsaysay Ave, Quezon City, Philippines

As you have no doubt heard, this region is once again in the news due to Super Typhoon Haiyan, which ravaged the Philippines when it hit last weekend.  The death toll is still unclear, but it is estimated that up to 10,000 people may have been killed.  As if things weren’t bleak enough, more rain is expected and emergency funds have been depleted by the recovery efforts from the earthquake.  Communications are down and roads are blocked everywhere, and citizens are having a very hard time getting basic supplies like food, water, and medicine, as well as struggling to bury the dead.

Because of this additional tragedy, the planned benefit screenings of AMIGO will now be dedicating a large portion of donations collected to the victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan.

If you would like to attend, a Facebook Event has been created (click here).

If you would like to donate from overseas, the most trusted way we currently know of is through the Philippines Red Cross (click here for donations page), though there is no way to specify that your donations go directly to Bohol.

You can also donate through Sagip Kapamilya’s Foundation (especially easy if you have Citibank) and specify if you’d like your donation to go to earthquake or typhoon relief (click here).

Can you host a relief screening in your town?

If you have the capability host a screening of AMIGO at your local theater and collect donations for the relief effort, please email PR@anarchistsconvention.com for more information.

A message from John & Maggie

What a great time we had on the YELLOW EARTH book tour. We loved seeing all of our old friends. Lots of hugging and kissing and shaking of hands. That was then! We were very lucky to return home – la
