A Wonderful Two Days in Amherst

On April 18th and 19th, John and Maggie visited Amherst, Massachusetts for reading, signing, and screening.

They also had a great time meeting fans, seeing friends, and talking to local students about writing and filmmaking.

On Wednesday, John read from A Moment in the Sun at the Pruyne Lecture Hall on the campus of Amherst College.   Q&A and book signing followed, orchestrated by the nice folks at Amherst Books.

The next day, John spoke to Dr. Richard Chu’s Asian Pacific History class.  The class featured a screening of Amigo and a discussion of Philippine/American relations from circa 1900 to the present.

That evening at Amherst Cinema, John gave an intro Q&A before a sold-out screening of Amigo.  Amherst Cinema did a fantastic job of recording the session, and they have made it available on YouTube already!  You can find all of the videos at our brand new John Sayles YouTube Channel, on our “Interviews” playlist (click here, scroll to bottom).  Or you can head over to the Amherst Cinema channel directly (click here).

Here is just one of the great videos from Amherst Cinema, in which John discusses modern parallels in Amigo.

A big thanks to everyone at Amherst College, Amherst Books, and Amherst Cinema for making this trip so enjoyable.
